A group of academicians and senior professionals from several countries, including the United Kingdom, the Unites States, Australia, India, the United Arab Emirates and Singapore have founded Laurels Global to foster modern and scientific educational practices and cross-cultural understanding. .

Laurels Global, a non-profit body, is committed to provide world-class educational consultancy to upcoming schools in fast growing countries by pooling quality resources and materials from all over the world. It aims to help new institutions in adapting the best educational patterns practiced in developed nations.

The corporate team of Laurels Global undertakes projects to set up new schools and run existing educational institutions, besides helping schools in upgrading quality, adapting excellent teaching practices and getting affiliated with international educational bodies such as IB.

Laurels Global also helps educational institutes in promoting their short-term "student-exchange programmes" that are designed to enhance student's understanding of the wider world and achieve academic excellence.

OFFICE BEARERS

Anthony Austin, Chairman

ta-1Anthony is the main guiding force behind Laurels Global’s educational initiatives. An alumnus of the UK’s prestigious Cambridge University and fluent in English, Italian, French, German and Swedish, widely-travelled Anthony has been associated with several media organisations across the world.

He has worked with Reuters as Chief sub-editor, financial desk, London, Chief Correspondent, Nordic countries based in Stockholm and Chief Correspondent, Southeast Asia based in Bangkok. He has been a coordinator of Greenwich Cyclists, campaigning for better cycling infrastructure and organising regular rides. Anthony is also a member of St. Alfege’s Church, Greenwich.

 

 

 Barry J. Porter, Director, Academics

bp-1Renowned academician Barry J. Porter has nearly 40 years of teaching experience in the United Kingdom, of which he has spent the last about 20 years heading St Saviour’s school. Widely-travelled Barry is interested in the global aspect of education and has led his school to new highs.

The Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED), an independent regulatory body set up by the British Government, wrote in its latest inspection report of St Saviour’s school:”The head teacher leads in a calm and caring manner and works well with staff and governors to ensure that all pupils are fully involved in the life of the school.” Barry is an advisor for newly qualified teachers in the schools of the Church of England, which has nearly 150 educational institutes in the United Kingdom.

 

 
M. K. C. Ponugubati, President

mp-1Ponugubati, a senior lecturer at London South Bank University, UK, is the honorary President of Laurels Global. He advises on issues such as international educational linkages, teacher/student exchange programmes and curriculum development. Ponugubati is an active member of the planning committee for the foundation degree programme of London South Bank University, under the auspices of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK.

He has worked as a lecturer at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and a lecturer-in-charge at Stamford College Berhad, Malaysia. Ponugubati, who speaks four languages, is a member of the Institute of Engineering Technology and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology.

 

 
Joanne Frearson, Global Head, Business Development

jf-1Joanne is responsible for expanding Laurels Global’s international activities and promoting best global educational practices. She is involved with various international projects at present and keen to expand laurels Global’s presence in several other countries. Originally from Australia, Joanne is now based in London.

She holds a Masters Degree in Communication from the Victoria University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Flinders University of South Australia. Joanne is a former European financial markets journalist and has written about markets in the United States and Asia.
